Example introduction
As a pioneer in electroless plating, we have been working to further strengthen our technological development capabilities by creating new seeds in the field of surface treatment based on the technology we have cultivated over our half-century history, in order to meet the diverse needs of the market.

Automotive parts (e.g. engine pistons, brake pistons, etc.)Electroless nickel plating is used as an alternative to conventional hard chrome plating. The hardness of the electroless nickel plating film after heat treatment is about Hv900, which is comparable to hard chrome plating. In addition to Ni-P plating solutions, KANIBORON® (Ni-P-B) and KANIFLON® (Ni-P-PTFE) are also used to improve abrasion resistance. |
Printer parts (e.g. various shaft parts)Electroless nickel plating does not require an anode electrode and can plate large quantities of items at once, making it possible to reduce costs compared to electroplating. In many cases, rubber is attached when assembling a shaft into a product, and in order to prevent the film from turning black due to the sulfur contained in the rubber, Ni-P plating solutions that do not contain sulfur-based additives (such as SE-660) are mainly used. |

Hard disk partsElectroless nickel plating is used on the disk surfaces, cases, and internal components of hard disks. In particular, since many of the exterior components of hard disks are made of aluminum-based materials, Ni-P type plating solutions that use sulfur-based additives are often used. Recently, there has been a switching to lead-free plating solutions (SEK-670, etc.) as products that comply with RoHS regulations. |
Molds (e.g. injection molds, T-dies, etc.)
Precision dies used in molding plastic and glass products require high accuracy.
Electroless nickel plating is used for plating dies because it allows the production of a uniform film that can be controlled to the micron level. KANIFLON® (Ni-P-PTFE) is sometimes used to improve mold release.
Machine tools and industrial machinery parts
Electroless nickel plating is also used in various machine tools and industrial machinery that are essential to manufacturing, such as injection molding machines and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Japan Kanigen's Gunma factory is equipped with large plating tanks, so even large parts can be plated with KANIGEN® (Ni-P) and KANIBORON® (Ni-P-B) films.
Optical components (e.g. camera and lens parts, etc.)Electroless nickel plating is also used in optical components such as cameras and lenses. In addition to Ni-P plating, KANIFLON® (Ni-P-PTFE) is used to provide sliding properties, and KANIBLACK® (lead-free), a matte black film, is used to suppress internal reflections. |

Electronic ComponentsIn the electronic parts field, there are few cases where electroless nickel plating can be completed by itself, it is necessary to consider special pretreatment and combination with other plating films such as gold, palladium, and copper depending on the purpose. For this reason, we are working on technological development that focuses not only on the development of plating solutions but also on the mechanism of the entire plating process. |
